Letter to the Editor
Written in response to "Preservation Priorities," The Baltimore Sun
Imagine writing a
check to your grandchildren and having someone grab it away. This is
what has happened to Program Open Space. Every time we as Marylanders
sell our houses, we agreed to put a bit aside so that together there
was money to buy land for parks in our neighborhoods. This was money
earmarked as a gift to ourselves and future generations. As a candidate
for Baltimore County Council in a district that is deficient in parks,
I urge all candidates for state office to promise to keep Program Open
Space funds dedicated to their intended use. Otherwise, each of us are
the losers as available land for neighborhood parks is gobbled up for
development. We cannot let this continue.
